Introduction to the Church of Saint Jerónimo el Real: The Church of Saint Jerónimo el Real (Iglesia de San Jerónimo el Real) is a Roman Catholic church built in the mid-16th century. It was almost destroyed during the Peninsular War, and the church you see now was rebuilt in the 19th century during the era of Queen Isabella. The church is in Gothic style, magnificent and exquisitely decorated. After Franco's death in 1975, Juan Carlos I was crowned here and has always been favored by the Spanish royal family.
