Introduction to Plaza de Sant Jaume: Plaça de Sant Jaume is the administrative center of Barcelona. The two main streets of the early Roman colony passed here. At the intersection was a square and the Temple of Augustus, whose four columns are still at No. 10 Paradise Street today. The Catalan Government Palace (Palau de la Generalitat) on the square is a historical building, with its main facade facing Plaza São Jome, opposite Barcelona City Hall. It is one of the few government buildings in Europe built in the Middle Ages that is still in use today and is still used by the original institution.
