Introduction to the Santa Justa Elevator: The Santa Justa Elevator (Elevador de Santa Justa), also known as the Carmo Elevator (Elevador do Carmo), is a major tourist attraction in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. It is located on Santa Justa Street ( End of Rua de Santa Justa. The elevator was built in 1900 and completed in 1902. It was originally powered by steam and was switched to electricity in 1907. Visitors can reach the top balcony through a spiral staircase and enjoy the view of São Jorge Castle, Rossio Square and Lower Pombal.
