Saint Lucia is a volcanic island located in the middle of the Windward Islands in the eastern Caribbean Sea. It is named after Saint Lucy of Syracuse, Sicily. The earliest inhabitants of Saint Lucia were Indians; the British invaded the island in 1639, and the French occupied the island in 1651.
