Introduction to Mao Zedong’s former residence: The courtyard to the north of the former revolutionary site of Fenghuang Mountain is divided into front and rear courtyards. There is a three-hole stone cave dwelling in the backyard, which was the former residence of Comrade Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong lived here from January 1937 to November 1938. The cave in the middle is a reception room, which is furnished with wooden tables and stools, and there are photos of Mao Zedong and Dr. Bethune talking on the wall; the cave in the southwest is an office and bedroom, which is furnished with wooden desks, chairs, cabinets, and displays of items used by Mao Zedong. The cave dwelling in the northeast is a newspaper room with a kang, a long wooden table and cabinets.
