Warehouse introduction: About 100 million crop seeds from all over the world are stored in cellars at minus 18 degrees Celsius. Each vault will be able to store 1.5 million samples, each of which will hold about 500 seeds. The seed bank was funded by the Norwegian government and will bear maintenance costs in the future. The Global Crop Diversity Trust will be responsible for providing technical guidance, seed transportation and management.
