Introduction to the Xu Keqiang Monument: Xu Keqiang’s original name was Shixiang, and his scientific name was Kaijia. He was born in 1908 to a peasant family in Xujiawan, south of Zhaojiabang Village, Songnan Town. The boy joined the revolution and was arrested twice. After he was released from prison, it was time for the national resistance war. He went to Suzhou, Changzhou, and Taipei to join the anti-Japanese struggle. During the most difficult years of the Anti-Japanese War, Xu Keqiang, who served as Secretary of the Suzhongtai County Party Committee, rushed to the battlefield to carry out work to consolidate and expand the anti-Japanese base areas. On July 2, 1942, when he led a group of people from the county committee, county and town government to break through the siege of the Japanese and puppet troops, he risked his own life to cover the transfer of the troops and sacrificed his young life.
