Introduction to the former residence of Lan Jianshu: It is located at No. 94, the west entrance on the north side of Jipi Lane and No. 6, the south entrance on the east side of Nanhou Street. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and was repaired during the Republic of China. It has two main buildings and a flower hall, with a construction area of 1029 square meters. . The front seat has two entrances, facing north and south; the back seat faces east and west. It is a Chinese and Western-style residence with a mixed structure of blue bricks and wood. It is now the location of the Fujian Folk Culture Grand View Garden.
Lan Jianshu (1855-?), courtesy name Jibei, was from Min County (now Fuzhou City). In the 13th year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty (1874), he graduated from the third driving class of Fujian Shipping School and was sent to study in the United States. After returning to China, he successively served as the commander of the "Zhaoyong" ship, the "Zhennan" gunboat, the "Weiyun" and "Tongji" training ships, and the "Haizhen" cruiser. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, he joined the Navy and served as staff officer and director of the management department. In March of the 9th year of the Republic of China, he was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy. In August of the 10th year of the Republic of China, he resigned from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Navy and returned to Fuzhou, where he lived in his old house on Jibi Lane.
