Introduction to Shaji Street: Shaji Street is the first street in Beihai. It was first built during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (1821-1850) and flourished from the Xianfeng to Guangxu years of the Qing Dynasty. Because the street was built along the "shaji", it was named "shaji street". The street width varies from two meters, with granite or blue brick pavement, wooden buildings and tiled houses along the street, and "five restaurants" such as pubs, opium dens, hotels, gambling houses, and brothels are gathered together. It was the most prosperous commercial street in Beihai in the early days.
