Introduction to Chaodou Hutong and Banchang Hutong: No. 77, not far from the west entrance of Chaodou Hutong, is the "Prince Monk's Mansion", a key cultural relic protection unit in Dongcheng District - the palace of Seng Gelinqin in the Qing Dynasty. The original palace was very large. The front door is in Chaodou Hutong, and the back door is in Banchang Hutong, spanning two alleys.
Seng Gelinqin was a native of Mongolia's Horqin Banner. He was good at conquering and fighting. In 1825, he was granted the title of King of Horqin County. In 1855, he was promoted to Prince. In 1859, he fought hard and defeated the British and French forces in the Battle of Dagu. After 1863, he was ordered to suppress the army. Nian, suppressed the Nian army in Shandong, Henan, and Anhui. In May 1865, he led his troops and was killed in a fierce battle with the Nian army in Caozhou, Shandong. After his death, his son Boyan Nomojie inherited the title of Prince. Therefore, the old residents in this area also called this residence "Prince Bo's Mansion". Prince Bo once served as an imperial minister and served as Guangxu's "scientist" (teacher). ), taught Guangxu how to ride and shoot.
