Introduction to the Buddhist temple: The Stone Buddhist Temple is located fifteen miles north of Juyong Pass. It is named after the stone-cut statue of the Great Compassion Buddha. It was built during the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. The Stone Buddha Temple was destroyed by the Eight-Power Allied Forces in 1900. Many of the Stone Buddhas were destroyed and their heads were missing. There are five stone Buddhas sitting cross-legged for tourists to visit. These Buddha statues are relics of the Yuan Dynasty and have a history of more than 700 years.
