Introduction to Science Island: Science Island is located on the west bank of Dongpu Reservoir in Hefei, which is the Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The park covers an area of more than 3,000 acres, lying quietly in the green lake water. The island is covered with green flowers and trees, fresh and quiet. Five scientific research buildings are lined up in a row, three elegant and generous Fuhu villas and other ancillary facilities form a "Science City" with strong scientific and technological strength.
Since 1965, the island has been used as a comprehensive scientific research base in Hefei. It has successively built the Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, the Institute of Plasma Physics, the Institute of Intelligent Machinery, and the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It was officially established in October 1978. In the past 20 years, the Hefei Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has achieved more than 400 scientific and technological achievements, won more than 160 awards from the state, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and has produced more than 60 major benefits in the national economy and national defense construction.
