Introduction to the Yangshan Martyrs Cemetery: The Revolutionary Heroes Memorial Tower was built in 1975 on Sheephead, 96 meters above sea level. It was renovated in October 2000. The tower is 17.5 meters high. On the front of the tower, the seven gold-plated characters "Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Tower" are Chairman Mao's own handwriting. On the back of the tower is an inscription written by Marshal Liu Bocheng in 1952 for the Southwest Shandong Campaign: "The People's Liberation Army's Southwest Shandong Campaign is the opening of the campaign." In order to advance the strategic counterattack at the front gate of the Yangtze River, the fallen soldiers will be immortalized by the people." The entire memorial tower is solemn and majestic and is one of the most symbolic buildings in the scenic area.
