Shangri-La Grand Canyon Introduction: The Shangri-La Grand Canyon is located more than 80 kilometers northwest of Shangri-La County. It is named because one end of the canyon is named "Shangri" and the other end is named "Lila". Also known as "Blue Land Canyon". It is said that the "Blue Moon Canyon" mentioned in the book "Lost Horizon" is here. The Gangqu River in the middle of the canyon was squeezed by the new orogeny at the bottom of the valley with an altitude of only more than 1,000 meters, while the two sides are facing the magnificent peaks of 4,000 to 5,000 meters high. At the end of the canyon, the Balagezong Snow Mountain with an altitude of 5,545 meters is One of the three sacred mountains in the Kham region. There is a spring in the Shangri-La Grand Canyon called "Shouting Spring". The spring is hidden deep in a cave. When people go to the cave and shout a few times, a stream of spring water gushes out from the cave. It has a sweet taste and is said to be able to cure diseases. In addition, there is a Tibetan Buddhist temple called "Nagara" in the canyon. There are both lamas and nuns in the temple. Unfortunately, it was burned down in 1937 and has not yet been restored. The Hongshan Gold Mine, Bura Gold Mine, and Bisang Gold Mine in the canyon have been actively mined since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They are called "hidden gold" together with the alluvial gold produced in the adjacent Benzilan. Mu's chieftain was the emperor at that time. Donated 12 million taels for the construction of the Ming Tombs.
This canyon is deep and narrow, with a wall height of more than 1,000 meters. The widest point is about 80 meters, and the narrowest point is only more than 10 meters. It can be said that "a line divides the sky into a chasm, and the two mountain gorges fight against stones as a gate." Let the river rush out from the Biyang Canyon with a cutting depth of 1000-2000 meters, forming a raging torrent and roaring sound among the 2.5 kilometers of hanging rock cliffs. The rapids in the deep gorge are shrouded in mist and clouds, appearing deep and mysterious, like a "wonderland" hidden deep in the world. However, this "wonderland" is clearly a legendary and thrilling wonderland in the haze, as if It is a retreat for explorers and wanderers. The rock paintings are scattered on the cliffs that tower into the sky in the Biyang Canyon. People have not yet been able to understand the meaning of the various graphics. According to its rough outline and vague imprints, relevant experts have verified that it is a symbol left by ancient migrating peoples. The certain cultural atmosphere created by it adds a bit of ancient and simple humanistic connotation to the canyon.
