Introduction to Yuan Jiagu’s former residence: Yuan Jiagu’s former residence is located at No. 51-59 Cuihu North Road, Kunming City. It is a typical residential building in the early years of the Republic of China. Mr. Yuan Jiagu and his family lived here for a long time until his death. Yuan Jiagu (1872-1937), a native of Shiping County, Yunnan Province, was the first-class economic special subject in the late Qing Dynasty. After the Revolution of 1911, he returned to Yunnan. In 1920, he built the Yishou Tower and Shuyuan residence at the current site, Yulongdui. In 1923, when Donglu University was founded, Yuan Jiagu was hired to lecture on Chinese studies until the end of his life. He was one of the famous professors of Yunnan University. The former residence was purchased back by Yunda University in the early 1950s.
