Introduction to the Dai folk houses: The residential buildings of the Dai people are mainly "ganlan" (commonly known as bamboo buildings). The upper and lower floors are made of wood and bamboo as piles, floors, and walls. The roof is covered with thatch and tiles. People live on the upper floor, and livestock are raised and farm tools and other items are piled on the lower floor. The entire building has tall spaces, and the walls and floors are made of bamboo or wood, which helps keep the room dry and cool.
