Deng Tuo (1912-1966), whose nickname was Deng Xuchu, whose scientific name was Deng Zijian, who used to be named Zhong Zijian, Zhongyunte, and pen names Manancun, Xiangyangsheng, etc., was a native of Minhou County, Fujian Province (now Fuzhou City). After graduating from high school in 1929, he was admitted to Shanghai Guanghua University. In 1930, he joined the Academy of Social Sciences Alliance and joined the Communist Party of China in the same year. He is an outstanding contemporary journalist, political commentator, historian, social scientist, poet and essayist.
