Introduction to Zhang Xueliang’s Confinement Place: Zhang Xueliang’s Confinement Place is a Western-style building with six rooms and a restaurant, covering an area of 438 square meters. It was originally the Xuedou Mountain Guest House of Shanghai China Travel Service, referred to as "China Travel Service". After the Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xueliang was placed under indefinite house arrest by Chiang Kai-shek. Xuedou Mountain in Xikou was General Zhang Xueliang's first place of house arrest.
There is a standing bronze statue of Zhang Xueliang in the outdoor courtyard. The three south-facing rooms indoors are Zhang Xueliang's rooms. From the inside to the outside, they are the bedroom, study room, and reception room. The rooms facing north are for the spy captain, Zhang Xueliang's adjutants, nurses and others. The room facing the door is the bedroom of Qian Junzhi, the manager of China Travel Service.
During Zhang Xueliang's stay in Xuedou Mountain, there were spies in front and behind the house, and a company of military police were stationed at Xuedou Temple. The space Chiang Kai-shek gave Zhang Xueliang was "no more than Zhenhaikou in the east, no more than Cao'e River in the west." After Zhang Xueliang was put under house arrest, Shao Lizi, Wang Jingwei, Song Ziwen, Chen Buili and others visited him successively. Miss Zhao Si and his first wife Yu Fengzhi took turns to come here to accompany him. On November 7, 1937, due to a fire in the cupboard and the house was completely burned down, Zhang Xueliang temporarily moved to Xuedou Temple. On November 9, he was escorted to Huangshan, Anhui Province, and began a life of house arrest with many wanderings.
