Introduction to Gaoming Temple: Gaoming Temple is located on the mountainside three miles east of the Zhizhe Pagoda. It is surrounded by peaks and secluded streams, with a beautiful and quiet environment. It is one of the twelve ancient temples in Tiantai Mountain founded by the Zhizhe Master. The temple was first built in the Tang Dynasty. It was originally named Youxi Taoist Temple, Youxi Zen Temple, and Jingming Temple. The existing buildings were rebuilt during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Ming Chuandeng lived in this temple and compiled "Tiantai Mountain Fangwai Zhi".
The construction area of Gaoming Temple is 3437 square meters. The existing buildings are mainly divided into 15 courtyards and more than 200 palaces along three longitudinal axes. The main buildings on the central axis are Zhaobi, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall and Abbot Tower. To the east of the temple There is a bell tower, with a copper bell in the tower, weighing 5,000 kilograms. When the bell is struck, the mountains ring and the valley echoes, and the sound can be heard ten miles away. Therefore, the ancients used "Toad Wind, Gaoming Bell, Wannian Pillar, and Guoqing Pine" as the rooftop. There are four unique mountains and temples. There are a lot of Buddhist scriptures and cultural relics in the temple. The plaques of "Gaoming Lecture Temple" and "Daxiong Hall" were all written by Kang Youwei. There is Youxi Pavilion in the east of the temple, with the two characters "Youxi" engraved on it, which is the handwriting of the wise master. Opposite the pavilion, there is a huge stone across the sky. The four stones support each other and form a cave of its own, called "Yantong Cave", hidden in the jungle. There are many cliff carvings near the cave. There is a large "Buddha" character on the cliff in the north, with a diameter of 7 meters. It was written by Xingci, a famous monk in the Republic of China. There are many scenic spots such as Xianggu Rock, Lingxiang Rock, Jinzi Rock and so on around the temple.
