Introduction to Guanyintang: The story of Guanyintang’s origins as “bearing stones to stop soldiers” has been around for a long time. According to legend, when soldiers invaded Dali during the Han Dynasty, Master Guanyin transformed into an old woman and carried a big stone on her back on a straw rope when she met the enemy soldiers on the road. The invading soldiers saw this and were very surprised, thinking that the old woman here would actually have something like this. With so much strength, let alone a young man? Therefore, the enemy soldiers did not dare to attack again and ordered the troops to retreat. In order to commemorate Guanyin's role in protecting the environment and the people, later generations built a Guanyin Pavilion on the big stone. The statue of Guanyin was enshrined in the pavilion, which was later expanded into Guanyin Pond.
