Introduction to the seventh and eighth caves: The two caves are a set of double caves. There are three-story wooden eaves in front of the two caves. The seventh cave is divided into front and back rooms. The main image of the third generation Buddha is on the north wall of the back room. The east, west and south walls are decorated with reliefs of Jataka stories and Buddhist niches showing stories from the Buddha's biography. The flying chess pieces on the top of the cave and the six worshipers on the upper part of the door arch on the south wall are very exquisitely carved; the statues on the four walls of the eight caves are badly weathered. The west side of the door arch is engraved with Kumarajiva with five heads and six arms riding a peacock, and the east side is engraved with Maliusura. The carving techniques and shapes are relatively mature. This kind of theme is a rare exception in Yungang Heart Cave.
