The Beijing New Culture Movement Memorial Hall is built on the site of the former Red Building of Peking University and is the only thematic museum in the country that comprehensively displays the history of the May Fourth New Culture Movement. This was once an important stronghold of the New Culture Movement, the birthplace of the May 4th Movement and one of the important birthplaces of the Communist Party of China. The earliest important place to spread Marxism and democratic scientific ideas in modern Chinese history was also in this revolutionary building built with red bricks. Today, this important historical event is fully presented to audiences from all over the world through six restored scenes, two special displays and one auxiliary display in the Red Mansion.Location:
The memorial hall is located at No. 29 Wusi Street, Dongcheng District, with an existing area of 3,000 square meters. The visiting area in the courtyard is divided into two parts: the first floor of the old site of the Red Building and the bungalow exhibition hall in the courtyard. There are six exhibition areas in the building, including the library director's room, the second reading room, the registration room, the 14th library, the trendy magazine club and the student classroom. Cai Yuanpei is Thematic display, Chen Duxiu special display. The bungalow houses the "Herald of the New Era - Exhibition of the New Culture Movement", which is divided into two parts: "Lighting the Torch of the New Culture" and "Blowing the Horn of the New Era". At 9:30 a.m. and 14:30 p.m., the 20-minute film "Once Upon a Time in the Red Mansions" will be broadcast in the screening room on the first floor of the Red Building.
In addition to the basic displays, temporary exhibitions are held from time to time in the memorial hall, which can be found on the official website.
