Introduction to the Wujiang Mountain Gorge Ancient Towpath: The Wujiang Ancient Towpath is called the Silk Road of the Tujia people and was first built in the Ming Dynasty. In October of the Yihai year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1539), when Tian Qiu, a county man, was appointed as the inspector of Sichuan, the Shangshu court was allowed to dredge the Yong River and build a simple towpath for boating on the bank of the dangerous shoal. From the 28th to the 34th year of the Republic of China (1939-1945), in order to transport anti-Japanese items, 400 towpaths were opened over a period of 6 years, with a total length of 10,340 meters. From 1952 to 1955, the Sixth and Third Channel Engineering Teams of Guizhou Province, in addition to improving some of the original inferior towpaths, excavated a new 1,483 meters.
