Menglu Grand Buddha Temple in Xishuangbanna is one of the landmark buildings of Theravada Buddhism symbolizing the Twelve Bannas. It is also an important place for Buddhist activities in Xishuangbanna. The temple is located on the site of a royal temple of the ancient Dai Dynasty. It was built by a Dai king named Bolong in the history of the Dai people in memory of the deceased princess Nanshaweibian. The scenic area takes the life of Buddha Sakyamuni and Buddhist temple activities as the main line, and is cleverly integrated into the landscape and architectural groups, fully displaying the history and traditional cultural color of Theravada Buddhism. The Buddhist temple is built against the mountain, with a height difference of 122.8 meters. It is in the shape of a sitting Buddha, which is unique at home and abroad. There are still more than 500 Buddhist temples and more than 200 pagodas in the Dai villages in Xishuangbanna, and the Mengli Grand Buddha Temple is the largest of all Buddhist temples and has the highest status. Menglu Grand Buddha Temple is located at No. 1, Road 4, top of Menglu Avenue, Jinghong City, covering an area of 650 acres. The main landscapes include the mountain gate, the Ten Thousand Buddhas Pagoda, the Jingpiao Hall, the Sri Lankan Hall, the Thai Hall, the Burmese Hall, the Laos Hall, etc. You can learn about the birth of Buddha Sakyamuni, becoming a monk, becoming a Buddha, propagating Dharma, and the 80 years of Nirvana.
