Beacon Tower Introduction: Ma'ao was also an outpost against Japanese pirates on the southeastern coast of the Ming Dynasty. There are nine beacon towers made of stones on Zhaojun Mountain and the fort post. They were military facilities used to observe Japanese pirates and light fires to report military information. The remains of the ancient anti-Japanese battlefield in Houwan, the Qi Jiajun cemetery in Pingshiling, and the ancient military pass formed by hundreds of meters of stone walls in Changchun Ridge are all historical witnesses of the Ma'ao people's fight against Japanese pirates and the defense of their country. During the Anti-Japanese War and the War of Liberation, Ma'ao became an important revolutionary transportation station and communication hub between Zhoushan Island, Daishan, Shengsi and Ningbo, and the party organization was very active.
