Scenic spot introduction:
The Australian War Memorial was built to commemorate Australian soldiers who died in World War II. It is a blue-gray domed building located on the north side of Lake Griffin. The memorial hall was built in 1941, opened in 1945, and completed in 1971. It covers an area of 13,000 square meters and is surrounded by 12 hectares of lawn. Looking down from the air, the memorial hall is in the shape of a cross; from the ground, it looks like a tomb, and the entrance to the fashion store looks like a tomb passage. The museum has detailed descriptions of the various wars Australia has participated in. It is not only a memorial to the fallen soldiers of World War II, but also an education and research center for war and military history. The Australian War Memorial is recognized as the best museum of its kind in the world. It has three main halls: the Second World War Exhibition Hall; the Bradbury Hall Fighter Exhibition Hall and the Anzac Exhibition Hall. Each exhibition hall displays a large number of wartime weapons, pictures, and models, and uses advanced laser, video, stereo, and other high-tech technologies to vividly reproduce the fierce war scenes of that year. In the World War II exhibition hall, there is even a sunken Japanese Navy mini-submarine that sneaked into Sydney Bay.
Although there have been almost no wars on Australian soil in history, the Australian military has participated in many wars such as the First and Second World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. About 102,000 soldiers were killed in the war. The war memorial has become the best place for people to understand the cruelty of war and commemorate the soldiers who died in the war.
