In November 1940, more than 150 party, government, military, and academic institutions, including the Eighth Route Army Headquarters and the Northern Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, were stationed in Matian. They were stationed here for 5 years. From here, 6 marshals, 6 generals, and 6 generals of the Republic came out. 19 generals, 48 ​​lieutenant generals, and more than 300 major generals. It became the political, military and cultural center of the Anti-Japanese War in North China, and was known as the "Little Yan'an" on the Taihang Mountains.
