Introduction to Zhang Wentian: Zhang Wentian was born in Nanhui County, Jiangsu Province (now part of Shanghai City). His original name was Yinggao (also known as Yingao). He once used the pseudonym Luofu and his courtesy name Wentian. Zhang Wentian was an outstanding proletarian revolutionist and theorist, a loyal Marxist, and an important early leader of the Communist Party of China. Comrade Zhang Wentian joined the Communist Party of China in 1925 and entered the Central Revolutionary Base Area in 1933. In October 1934, he participated in the Long March and attended the Zunyi Conference. In 1959, he was mistakenly identified as a member of the anti-party group; he was persecuted during the Cultural Revolution and was sentenced to death on July 1, 1976. He died of illness unjustly. In August 1979, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China vindicated his unjust case. His main works include "Selected Works of Zhang Wentian".
