Introduction to the Ancient Tea Horse Road: The Ancient Tea Horse Road Scenic Area is the heart of Ailao Mountain and is mostly an uninhabited area. There is a dangerous terrain where "one man can guard the pass, but ten thousand men cannot open it" and a special three-dimensional climate where "one mountain has four seasons, and every mile has a different sky". It was once a battleground for chieftains, business tyrants, and soldiers and bandits. Before liberation, more than 800 mules and horses and more than 1,000 merchants passed through the Ailao Mountain Ancient Road every day. The most dangerous thing for merchants and caravans on this ancient road is to cross the primeval forest of Ailao Mountain and cross the Red River with caravans. The long queue was very spectacular, so the general merchandise of cloth, silk, tobacco and small handicrafts went southwest, carrying back foreign cigarettes, salt, tea, wild animal furs, etc. The caravan traveled around for three months to half a year before returning. Countless large caravans walk silently on this ancient road, experiencing the joys and sorrows of the world.
