Introduction to the Mosque: The construction of the Et`hem Bey Mosque started in 1789 and was completed in 1823. It is one of the few ancient buildings left in the city. Albania was uniquely an atheist country in the past, and its mosques were spared damage during the movement as cultural monuments.
