Introduction to Lake Mead: The reservoir of Hoover Dam is the famous Lake Mead. The largest artificial reservoir in the United States at that time was named after Dr. Elwood Mead, the then director of reclamation. Lake Mead has vast blue waves that stretch as far as the eye can see. It is the largest artificial lake in the Western Hemisphere. The Hoover Dam has a power generation capacity of 1,345 megawatts, which can supply most of the southwestern Pacific coast. This shows the great contribution of the Hoover Dam.
