Introduction to Lake Neusiedl: Lake Neusiedl (Neusiedler See in German), known as Lake Ferto-to in Hungary, is a lake in the western part of the middle Danube plain. This area originally belonged to Hungary, but in 1922 two-thirds of the lake area was assigned to Austria.
