Introduction to the Baiheliang Underwater Museum: The Baiheliang Inscriptions are the oldest, longest-lasting and largest known hydrological inscriptions in the world. UNESCO calls Baiheliang "the only well-preserved ancient hydrological station in the world." Due to the construction of the Three Gorges Project, the Baiheliang inscription will forever sink to the bottom of the river. In order to allow future generations to appreciate this cultural relic, the state invested 200 million to build the Baiheliang Underwater Museum. On May 18, 2009, the inauguration ceremony of the Baiheliang Underwater Museum was held. The entire protection project consists of four parts: "Underwater Museum", "Connecting Traffic Corridor", "Underwater Anti-collision Pier" and "Shore Exhibition Hall". The underwater museum is a protective shell built on the original site of Baiheliang.
