Introduction to Glacier No. 1: China's No. 1 Glacier is located on the north side of the watershed of Tiangeer Peak (4,476 meters above sea level), the main peak of Karawucheng Mountain in the Nanshan District. It is 127 kilometers away from Urumqi and is the glacier closest to the city in the world. The glacier was formed in the Second Ice Age and has a history of 4 million years. It is shaped like a double cirque, 200 meters long, and covers an area of ​​1.74 square kilometers. The end of the glacier tongue is 3,730 meters above sea level. The melting season of the glacier is from mid-May to early November every year, and it is still moving in an "S" shape at a speed of 5 meters per year. There are five modern glaciers near Glacier No. 1, which is the source of the Urumqi River.
