Introduction to the Meridian Gate: Also known as the "Five Phoenix Tower", it is located in the middle of the south wall of the Forbidden City. It is the main entrance of the Forbidden City. It is the largest of the four gates of the Forbidden City. It was built in the 18th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1420). There are two square pavilions on the east and west sides of the city platform extending forward on both sides of the city tower, echoing the main building in the center, shaped like a red bird spreading its wings.
