Meteorological Observatory Introduction: The meteorological observatory was formerly the National Tsinghua University Meteorological Observatory built in the summer of 1931. At that time, the data from the Meteorology Department of Tsinghua University was the most complete, accurate, comprehensive and reliable in North China. Construction units from Beijing, Tianjin, Taiyuan and other places often go to the Department of Meteorology of Tsinghua University to collect data. In 1952, with the restructuring of Tsinghua University’s departments, the Department of Meteorology was merged into Peking University. Due to a long period of neglect and maintenance, the weather station became increasingly dilapidated. It was not until 1997 that Tsinghua University changed the situation of "lawlessness" (law and astronomy). With the gradual establishment of the astrophysics discipline, the meteorological observatory was also renamed the observatory. The exterior design of the new observatory is an additional layer under the astronomical dome and based on the original meteorological observatory. In the past few years, more than a dozen doctoral students and postdocs from top American universities such as Harvard and MIT have walked out of this white octagonal tower.
