Introduction to Victory Square: Victory Square is located in the center of Minsk. It was built in 1947 and is 225 meters long and 175 meters wide. On the square stands a 40-meter-high monument to the fallen martyrs of the Great Patriotic War. The lower part of the monument is inlaid with The large-scale metal relief statues show the heroic fighting process of the Belarusian soldiers and civilians against the enemy. The top of the monument is a five-star medal symbolizing the heroic city. In front of the monument is an ever-lasting flame that embodies the immortal spirit of the martyrs. The neatly arranged stone monuments on both sides of the square are engraved with the 12th anniversary of the former Soviet Union. The name of a heroic city; underneath the square is a spacious pedestrian passage. In the central hall of the passage is an amber garland with a diameter of 2 meters. There is a lighting device in the garland. When the lights are on, the entire garland looks like a ball. The blazing flames remind passers-by not to forget the martyrs who died gloriously for victory.
At present, Victory Square has become one of the main places for Belarus to hold grand commemorative activities. On every major festival such as May 9th Victory Day and Independence Day, Belarus will hold a grand flower-laying ceremony in the square.
