Introduction to the Place de la Bourse: The Place de la Bourse was originally built to praise King Louis XV of France and was designed by the famous French architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel, who was also responsible for the Place de la Concorde and the Palace of Versailles in Paris. Completed in 1755, the entire building complex consists of three parts: the tax office, the stock exchange hall and the central hall. It is the most magnificent eighteenth-century building complex in southwest France.
A bronze statue of Louis XV riding a tall horse was originally erected in the center of the square, but it was overthrown and melted down by the revolutionary masses during the French Revolution. Fifty years later, the beloved Three Goddess Fountain was built on the original site.
