Introduction to St. Michael's Gate: Michalska Brana (also translated as St. Michael's Gate, Michal's Gate, etc.) in the Old City of Bratislava was built in the 14th century AD. It is the only preserved gate in the ancient city wall surrounding the old city in the Middle Ages.
This city gate was originally just a low Gothic building. In the 18th century, a 51-meter-high Baroque-style domed bell tower was added to it. On the top of the bell tower stood Miches. The statue of Cardiff has since become a symbol of the old city. Today, the city gate building also houses a museum displaying ancient weapons from the Middle Ages.
