Zoo introduction: Sofia Zoo was built in 1888 under the order of the Bulgarian royal family. It is the oldest and largest zoo in Bulgaria. The park covers an area of ​​36 hectares and contains more than 1,113 animals of 244 species. In 1982, the zoo moved from its original location to its current new location 2.8 kilometers south of Sofia. Visitors can have close contact with herbivores, primates, predators, penguins and birds.
