Introduction to St. John's College: St. John's College was built in 1511 on the original site of St. John's Hospital. It is the second largest college in Cambridge. The college's architecture is mainly in the Tudor Jacobean style. The corner tower and brick gatehouse built in 1514 has colorful heraldic signs. Most of the school buildings were built in the 16th and 17th centuries and have portraits of famous alumni.
