Introduction to the Great Hall: The Great Hall, together with the Old Library, West Gymnasium and Science Museum, are known as the "Four Major Buildings" and are the first batch of large-scale buildings since the founding of Tsinghua University. When it was built, the auditorium was the largest auditorium among domestic universities, with a construction area of 1,840 square meters and a height of 44 meters. The architecture of the auditorium has the most artistic style of ancient Rome and ancient Greece during the Italian Renaissance, with a Roman-style dome main body, an open large-span structure, and a white marble Ionic column portico. The whole building is rounded at the bottom and is solemn and majestic, symbolizing the "firmness, simplicity and perseverance" of Tsinghua people. It is the gathering center of Tsinghua University. The Great Hall is "one of the buildings with the most glorious history" in Tsinghua University. In the 1930s, it was the gathering place for the "Great Hall Faction" students who supported the Communist Party and firmly advocated anti-Japanese resistance. Today, on-campus meetings, lectures and entertainment performances are still often held here.
