Introduction to the Yamen of the Appeasement Department: The Tusi Yamen preserved the basic layout of the Ming Dynasty’s chief official’s office and mansion. The main building covers an area of about 1831.52 square meters, is about 55.2 meters long, about 20 meters wide, and about 12 meters high. It has three halls and two patios. As soon as you enter the Wufeng Tower, there are five bays in front of the door, which are arranged in a canopy style with four raised legs and three eaves. There are 5 built-in caissons of various styles. In the second year of Jiaqing in the Ming Dynasty, Gong Hui, the head of the Ministry of Industry of the imperial court, went to Caotang to purchase more than 5,000 large logs for the construction of Renshou Palace in the Forbidden City. For this reason, there is a folk saying that "half of the large trees in the Forbidden City were harvested in Weng'an". Since the tribute was not meritorious, the imperial court acquiesced to the illegal expansion of the residence by the Caotang Appeasement Department. Nowadays, the pacification department in Guizhou has disappeared, and only the Caotang pacification department remains.
