Fort San Pedro introduction: Fort San Pedro, located next to the port, is called the oldest castle in the Philippines together with the Santiago Castle in Manila. There is a monument to Legaspi on the Independence Square in front of the main entrance of the castle. . The castle was originally built to defend against pirate attacks. It was taken over by Cebu's freedom fighters in 1898, thus ending Spanish rule. In the early days of World War II, the U.S. military used it as a military base and training camp. It was turned into a concentration camp during the Japanese rule.
