Introduction to Chaka Salt Lake: Qinghai Chaka Salt Lake was formed by seawater retention after disasters or crustal movements. It is sandwiched between Wanyan Tongbu Mountain, a branch of the Qilian Mountains, and Wanggaxiu Mountain, a branch of the Kunlun Mountains. The lake is 3,100 meters above sea level and is oval in shape. Its total area is equivalent to 10 Hangzhou West Lakes. Chaka is an important stop on the ancient Silk Road and is known as the East Gate of Qaidam. Historically, it was the only place for merchants and tourists to enter Xinjiang and Tibet.
