Back Garden Introduction: Back Garden is the back garden of Changdeokgung Palace. There are lotus ponds, pavilions and more than 2,600 trees of hundreds of different species planted in the back garden, some of which are more than 300 years old. The rear garden is the private place of the Joseon king and his wife. Even high-ranking officials are not allowed to enter without the consent of the Joseon king. The back garden is therefore also called the "forbidden garden" or "inner garden".
