Introduction to the No. 1 Dockyard Ruins: The "No. 1 Dockyard Ruins" is located in the east of Mawei Luoxing Tower in Fuzhou City. In 1886, Pei Yinsen, the Minister of Shipping, informed the court that the Qingzhou on the east side of Luoxing Tower was selected to build a large shipyard. After the construction started, it was suspended several times due to financial difficulties. It was not completed until 1893 and was called Qingzhou Dock. Later, it was renamed No. 1 Dock because another dock was built at the foot of Maxian Mountain on the south side of Fujian Shipbuilding Shipyard.
The dock body of No. 1 Dockyard is made of huge granite stones. It is 128 meters long, 33.5 meters wide and 9.3 meters deep. It can accommodate 8,000-ton ships to dock for repairs. There is a large iron gate at the dock entrance. Ships can dock at high tide. Lower the iron gate and pump water out of the dock. The surrounding facilities include: water pumping plant, machine factory, official hall, maid's room, sailor's room, timber room, machine room and other buildings, covering an area of about 32,600 square meters and costing a total of 490,000 taels of silver dollars. At that time, it was only After the Liverpool Dockyard in England, it was the second largest stone dock in the world at that time.
