Introduction to the Bell Tower and the Main Teaching Building: The main teaching building of Chongqing University is located on the bank of the Jialing River in Area A of Chongqing University, where the former Rao Family Courtyard was located. It is a comprehensive building integrating teaching, scientific research, and office work. The main building has 27 floors above ground and 3 floors underground, and is a cast-in-place reinforced concrete frame-core tube structure; the podium building has 5 floors above ground and 3 floors underground, and is a cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure. It covers an area of 12,000 square meters, has a construction area of 70,000 square meters, and a building height of 121.5 meters. After its completion in 2005, it was awarded the "Zhan Tianyou Award", the largest award in China's civil engineering industry, by the China Civil Engineering Society for its novel design system and advanced technology application. The main teaching building accommodates the communication engineering, automation, computer, software and other colleges that require special teaching places. It also houses the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, the Interdisciplinary Research Institute, the "985" Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Base, and the "985" Remote Control and Remote Sensing Information transmission technology innovation platform and other departments and agencies.
