Introduction to the Sacsayhuanman Temple: The Sacsayhuanman Temple is located on the hillside north of Cusco. It is the largest sun temple in the Inca Empire and a very important military building. It is a huge open-air building with three floors made of huge stones. The local Quechua language means "contented mountain eagle". Every June during the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere, the Inca Empire would hold a grand sun sacrifice here to worship their most revered sun god.
