Introduction to the Prayer Altar: The Prayer Altar was originally called the Thousand People Altar. According to legend, Qin Shihuang traveled eastward to Kuaiji and climbed mountains to pray for immortals. At this point, you can see the peaks extending eastward into the sea, so Xu Fu was ordered to set up an altar to pray. It is also the place where Xu Fu led 3,000 boys and girls to burn incense toward the northeast to worship the sea and pray for immortality, which means to pray for Xu Fu to safely cross the sea and reach Penglai Island. It means that it can accommodate thousands of people to worship at the same time, so it is named Thousand People Altar. Now a prayer altar has been rebuilt on top of the original Thousand Persons Altar.
